Nursing at GITAM provides the following specializations that give you an edge in the job market.

B.Sc
Nursing

This 4-year undergraduate programme in Nursing has been designed to train you to think critically and clearly, while being caring, well-disciplined and assertive.

M.Sc
Nursing

This 2-year postgraduate programme in Nursing will train you to become a Nurse Practitioner, authorised to prescribe drugs, medical equipment atnd therapies.

B.Sc Nursing

Overview

This 4-year undergraduate programme in Nursing has been designed to train you to think critically and clearly, while being caring, well-disciplined and assertive. You will learn how to:

  • Respond to the dynamic needs of the healthcare delivery system

  • Be decisive, while protecting patient rights and relevant groups

  • Pursue and apply research as evidence-based form of practice

Eligibility

  • The minimum age for admission must be 17 years, to be completed by 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.

  • Minimum Education : Intermediate with BiPC or 10+2 passed from a recognized institute with Science, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and English with 65% marks at least.

  • Students should be medically fit.

M.Sc Nursing

Overview

The M.Sc. Nursing is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to prepare B.Sc. Nurses for advanced clinical practice, leadership, education, and research roles. The curriculum is built on strong scientific foundations and evidence-based practice, enabling nurses to manage complex health conditions and deliver high-quality specialty care across diverse healthcare settings.

Graduates are trained to function as clinical specialists, educators, administrators, and researchers as per statutory council norms. GITAM provides 7500 as stipend every month.

  • Patient selection/admission to ICU and discharge

  • Problem identification through appropriate assessment

  • Selection/administration of medication/devices/therapies

  • Patient education for use of therapeutics

  • Evaluation of outpatient care

  • Knowledge of therapeutic interactions, if any

Eligibility

  • Applicants must possess a registered B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of one-year clinical experience, in any critical care unit.

  • Must have undergone the B.Sc. Nursing in an Institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

  • Must have scored not less than 55% aggregate marks in the B.Sc. (N) program.

  • Pass in qualifying examination from a recognized central / state University or its equivalent and also rank obtained in GAT (Nursing PG).

Medical Surgical Nursing

Advanced care of adult patients with medical, surgical, and critical illnesses, including ICU management and complex therapeutic interventions.

Child Health Nursing

Specialized care of neonates, infants, children, and adolescents with a focus on pediatric assessment, critical care, growth monitoring, and family-centered practice.

Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing

Comprehensive maternal and women’s health care covering antenatal, intranatal, postnatal, high-risk pregnancy, and gynecological management.

Eligibility

A minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Intermediate or 12th examination from a recognized central / state boards or its equivalent in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English & Minimum of 50% marks in the entrance test.

Scholarship

main campus of GITAM Deemed to be University, it is the oldest of the three campuses and is situated at one of the most idyllic locations in Andhra Pradesh.
