To expose the students to real-life situations, the GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is facilitating each student's adoption of 2-3 families and following them throughout five years. Students are allocated specific families and visit them every month. Each visit has particular activities to be carried out by the student. The field study lasts 3 hours, during which students are encouraged to observe the family surroundings and talk with the family members. They are also involved in improving the health literacy of the family members. The concerned specialists examine all the family members, and deviations in health status are identified. Students are also encouraged to explore the family members' health condition and perform follow-up activities. Thus, students appreciate the changes (social, physical, economic and psychological) during their 5-year follow-up.

GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in training the students (from I MBBS to Final MBBS) to fully equip them to confidently and strategically prepare for the most essential concepts from the National Exit Test (NExT). As a component of formative assessment, students are periodically subjected to computer-based, high-quality, multiple-choice questions covering the prescribed syllabus. This curriculum-integrated NExT examination training will train the MBBS student to use the latest technology in addition to regular classroom coaching. The multiple-choice questions are mainly scenario/case-based and problem-oriented. These tests test critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and clinical judgment among medical students. The questions are validated and updated, incorporating the day-to-day advances and recommendations.
